The Super Modular Rail (SMR) MK8 M-LOK is Geissele’s ultra-modular model. The SMR MK8 is one of the first rails available to utilize the Magpul M-LOK technology. These rails are designed to give the user full modularity while maintaining a strong and rigid platform.

Maximum venting at the lower 45° quadrants create maximum heat dissipation and also dramatically reduces the rails overall weight. Utilizing Magpul's M-LOK technology at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, as well as the upper 45° quadrants. The SMR MK8 is both versatile and modular, allowing the user to taylor their platform to his or her unique needs. The SMR MK8 also features Geissele's proprietary 2' long barrel nut. This increases the surface contact where the rail interfaces with the receiver and creates a platform that can be trusted to be straight and true the entire length of the free float rail. This increases accuracy and zero repeatability during disassembly and reassembly when performing maintenance. Bundled with a low-profile Geissele Super Gas Block, a $59 value, the SMR MK8 is not only feature packed, but it is also value packed.Features. Precisely machined proprietary barrel nut.

I've owned a BCM KMR ( the orignial magnesium models ) and currently own a 13' MK8. There is no comparison. I would feel comfortable hammering a nail into concrete with that thing. So much rigidity. That being said, BCM makes a good product and I'm sure the new MLOK rail they finally came around to putting out is top notch; but if you want to compare them, the MK8 is so much sturdier. As a side note, you mention having smaller hands, I'd recommend looking at the MK13 or MK14 instead. Sniper ghost warrior vs sniper elite crossbow.

The tube width is much closer to the BCM and has more of a round feel to it. I have a couple of the MK14's and they're tough to beat.Hope this helps.

I have a KMR (magnesium original) and a KMR Alpha (aluminum). The original KMR is not very strong. It doesn't take a lot of force to deform the rail at the keymod slots. The aluminum rail is stronger than the magnesium and still very light. My hands are not small, and I can wrap them all the way around the rail with some overlap. The bigger question comes down to 'what do you want to hang on the rail?' The less stuff on there, the less heavy duty of a rail you need. If you are using 3-gun style barricade braces and a heavy bipod, you will want more rail than if you were just running a light and a VFG.I really don't think you will be going wrong with the quality of either one, but the BCM will be lighter.
