Original review: June 25, 20191-800-PACK-RAT has lost our POD. It was supposed to be delivered last week, and they did not discover that it was missing until the day it was due to us. Instead of being in Cleveland, we were told it was in Virginia. Now, we are beginning to believe that they have no idea where it is.
We call and customer service responds with 'we have no information'. When we try to escalate the problem, we are told a supervisor will call us back. We have yet to have anyone return a call as promised. This has happened at least 6 times. We have been on hold with them for hours, literally, simply trying to find out where our moving pod is and WHEN it will be on the road to us. 6 days later and we have been told it is still not dispatched from wherever it is, and no one can tell us when it will be. Yet again, we are waiting for a promised call from a supervisor.
This is the most infuriating organization I have ever dealt with. There must be some recourse here and we are beginning to believe we may never see our household items again.
Do not do business with this company. He spent 20 minutes SCREAMING at me until I pushed the permit under his nose!
And then blocked my driveway once he finally left the container. The real trouble came when I set up delivery at my new house. The warehouse changed my delivery date to a day earlier, tried to deliver while I was at work and ultimately didn't delivery. Once again I spent hours on hold. Finally spoke with a supervisor, David., who was to call me back within an hour with an acceptable delivery schedule. David, I'm still waiting (from Nov.
2018) for the return call.Again more time on hold. The delivery of the first was finally made, and I scheduled a swap out to have the second container delivered. When the second container was delivered, the driver backed the container into a five foot hedge in front of the house causing much damage. When I placed a claim, it was denied, citing some Addendum:Please note Section 6 of the Addendum that states: “4.
Placement of the Container on Your Property. You acknowledge that we will attempt to place the Container in your driveway or other paved surface and that such area shall be of adequate size and clearance to handle the weight and size of the Container. You authorize us to drive on your paved surface, lawn or other non-paved surface in order to deliver and retrieve the Container. In either case, you assume full risk for all damage resulting from the delivery, placement and retrieval of the Container and you relieve us from any responsibility for such damage.”When I responded back to them that the first container was placed without issue, the representative in claims sent it back to 'legal' for review along with my photos showing there was adequate room. I then waited 3 months with no response. My emails were not answered.
No phone calls came. I reached out by phone again. Waited on hold for an eternity. Finally spoke with the claims department to learn the rep who was helping me no longer worked there and all her cases were in limbo.
Really??!!Now I have resubmitted my claim, and after waiting 6 months, they are generously offering to pay HALF!!!! I paid them their full price, over $4,000.00 in storage and delivery fees. Believe me, they are no bargain. Again, I have tried to call. After 45 minutes on hold (all the while the machine tells you how much they value you as a customer) you are automatically forced into their call back system. Well someone called back.
They hung up after one ring though!! I tried contacting them through their online chat.
Still waiting on the callback. Original review: April 27, 2019Very worst service. Their Toll Free number is always busy.
You need to be on hold for 1 hour. The driver was unprofessional, not responsive and rude. It's really very hard to work with them. They are ignorant and unhelpful when you do the apartments move.
Terrible service. Never ever going to do business with them. Trust me they will not wait for even 10 minutes for you and charge you 75$ saying they are very busy. Customer service is also rude and not at all helpful. Original review: April 16, 2019This is a review of the 1-800-PACK-RAT service in the Richmond, VA area. I was happy with everything up until they delivered my full container to the new address.
I wasn't able to be there for the delivery, but they don't require you to be. I provided detailed written instructions for where I wanted the container placed and when the driver called in transit I went over everything again. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the location later that day and found the container on the opposite side of the house from where it should be. Instead of having a 10-15' walk on flat ground into my basement (where everything was going to be stored), I had a 150' walk around the house and down a hill to get there. I called to ask them to return and place the container where I wanted but they refused. Putting it where I wanted required driving over a bit of grass and I was told it was at the driver's discretion whether to do it or not.
When I'd spoken with the driver to give him directions he never told me that driving over the grass would be an issue. It's flat, solid ground and had he gotten out of his truck he would have seen that. So rather than being able to offload the container by myself, I had to spend $250 on a moving crew.
The response from customer service was ridiculous and pretty much amounted to, 'Oh well, nothing we can do'. And while this part of the story wasn't a problem for me, it bears noting that when it was time to pick up my empty container they sent the driver to my old address.
This was after I noticed online that they were scheduled to go there and I called in to correct them. The driver finally did come to the right place, but only after driving out of his way to the wrong location. When he came I asked him about the issue of the previous driver not delivering the container to the right spot. He chalked it up to the guy being too lazy to get out of his truck. He said when he has to drive over grass he gets out of the truck to walk on it and make sure it will support a heavy load, which the previous dude apparently couldn't be bothered with. Don't use these guys unless you have no other option. I should have stuck with PODS, which I've used several times in the past and was always happy with. I even had a PODS driver deliver a container through a 2' snow drift once.
I can pretty much guarantee that 1-800-PACK-RAT wouldn't do that. Original review: March 25, 2019I ordered a Pack Rat storage unit for a 3-day home remodeling project.
I requested to have the unit picked up on Saturday, March 23rd, but was told that they do not work on weekends and the next available pickup date would be the following business day, Monday, March 25th. When I called to confirm, I was told that the unit could not be removed until Tuesday, March 26th, Pack Rat changed the date to accommodate their schedule without consulting me and refused to honor the original agreed upon removal date, now I have to pay a home owner association (HOA) fee for keeping the unit on the premises beyond the allowed time. Customer service refused to let me speak with a manager to try to resolve the issue. I will never use Pack Rat again and do not recommend use of this company! Original review: March 3, 2019Not sure if you really want to hear this or if you will make any effort to make things right but here is our experience with Pack-Rat. When my wife and I called to book your service we explained to the sales person our concern about whether or not there would be a problem delivering the POD to our new home due to a steep driveway. The saleswoman said she would do some checking and get back to us.
She called back a short time later stating it would not be a problem to get the POD placed in our driveway. So based on your company’s estimation and recommendation we contracted for your service. Well that was not the case and the driver had to return the POD to the storage facility because he could not place the POD anywhere on our property let alone in our driveway. We went back and forth with your company’s representatives trying to figure how, on our end, we could find a solution so you could keep a commitment we paid you for that you could not fulfill. The best solution Pack-Rat could come up with was for us to ask neighbors we didn’t even know if we could have the POD in their driveway What a lame and absurd idea.
So your company basically washed your hands of it and left it up to us to fix this problem all the while keeping the meter running on our storage fees.So while we worked with our homeowners' association trying to devise a plan that they would approve to get our items delivered we incurred an additional month’s storage fee. Again that fee was incurred because your company could not fulfill the agreement like you said you could. The sole reason we entered into a contract with your company in the first place was to have our items delivered. You made an error when accepting the job. It was your responsibility to properly assess the job but when you could not make good on your commitment your organization would take no such responsibility.
We were further penalized while we searched finding a solution that you could not nor tried to find. Your answer was. 'Come and get your stuff; but we are keeping your money.' We were told the only way we would receive a credit for that month’s fee was if we came picked up our belongings from the storage facility.
Since my wife recently had a hip replacement and because my have physical issues that was not an option for us. That is not the service I contracted and paid for. While we're willing to hire a moving company, actually we were forced, to execute such a plan but your company would not return our money in order for us to afford executing that plan Again taking our money and providing no useful service Certainly not we both originally agreed to. Apparently Pack-Rat changes the agreement at any time as they see fit in order to suit their needs and make up for their inability to hold up their end of the agreement Because after all they had my money and my belongings.Long story short while my wife and I were successful in coming up with a plan that our association would approve to get our belongings here; we incurred even more additional costs because we had to hire movers to get the POD unloaded. This was due to the fact that where the POD was placed meant it had to be unloaded within a 3 hour time frame; and because the only day/s that the association would allow this were on weekdays.
Which meant we could not use family members to unload the POD at our leisure; which is also what we had budgeted for. This whole fiasco costs us much more money than it should have, was very stressful and a huge inconvenience to us and the association we are brand new to. However your Supervisor Juanita didn’t seem to care or want to take any of that into account. Her only concern was getting your company the money for a service you were unable to properly provide and therefore did not earn. BTW the POD that was delivered had a hole in it; the driver’s solution was to put tape over the hole. Further evidence of the way your company conducts business. In closing I have tried to explain what transpired with respect.
My hope is a representative from your company will contact me to make some meaningful credits to the charges we unfairly incurred. If not rest assured we’ll be taking this to small claims court and posting similar reviews online.
There was one bright spot. The driver Chuck, who is not employed by Pack-Rat, was the same driver who could not deliver the POD on the first trip and was the same driver to returned the second time He was awesome Professional and thoughtful. Original review: Dec. 17, 2018Their pod sat in my driveway for three weeks with my furniture in it while I had foundation work done and new floors installed in my home. When I unloaded it all the content was damp and the finish on two pieces of wood furniture was ruined because water had been sitting on them.
It appeared to be condensation dripping from the ceiling of the pod but it also could have been a small hole in the roof. When I reported it to customer service they did not seem surprised or concerned, but simply said 'you can file a claim form.' I would NEVER use PACK-RAT again!!! Original review: Dec.
9, 2018I purchased $75,000 in content protection, at a very expensive monthly rate, to protect my furniture and household items while stored in a container with 1-800-PACK-RAT in their warehouse. I submitted a claim in the amount of $4600 in damages to my items. I shared before and after pictures of my items including receipts. My claim was accepted through email and I was told my claim would be reviewed in 90 days and if necessary, an agent would contact me to inspect my items.
I never heard back from anyone. After 90 days, I began emailing and calling. It took 2 weeks to get a response at which time I was told my items didn't qualify for coverage. When I pressed for more information as to why, I was told that the agent was told by a supervisor she had to give a response today and that was her decision. In consolation, she offered me $600 and lectured me that content protection was not insurance. $600 didn't even cover the premiums I had paid to protect my items.I recommend buying a separate insurance policy from a reputable company to cover your items if you use any of these storage pod companies. 1-800-PACK-RAT does not use an insurance company to cover your items.
Fl-18 Pro Pack 2
Instead they are 'self insured' and it is up to their discretion as to whether your items are protected or not. A reputable company would be independent and protect its customers. 'Content Protection' is just a way to get more money from their customers and then screw them over.
It's downright fraud. I also used PODS for my storage at the same time as I used PACK-RAT. I had no issues whatsoever with PODS, but would still recommend a private insurance company to protect your valuables.
Consumers, you have a choice. Don't trust 1-800-Pack-Rat for your storage needs. Money talks and they've shown they don't care about their customers. Don't give them your business.
Original review: Dec. 4, 2018Called a week in advance to have pod delivered, said they could not deliver for three weeks, pod was in storage so they billed me for an extra month of storage. Seems to me if they have a problem with the delivery they should not charge the extra month. The cost per month was $209. They charged me $278, the cost of delivery was $241, then they charged me $296 to pick up the container.
The $296 was not part of the quote. They overcharge me $574.
They bill your credit card but never tell you what the payment is for. You never get a receipt from the driver at pick up, nor any from 1-800-PACK-RAT, you do not know what you are paying for??? WHY WOULD ANYONE USE THIS SERVICE AFTER THIS REVIEW!
Original review: Nov. 19, 2018Oh man, don’t use these guys if you care about your stuff. Storing your stuff outside under a tarp would be better. Real estate agent recommended instead of PODS. Big, big mistake. Container arrived damaged and definitively not weather tight.
Called right away and driver came back a few hours later with some tape. Even apologized for signed being torn off and all the holes and open air gaps. See pics on the fixes he did. Any significant snow on ground will seep up into floor and did. Holes inside where sign was torn off and big gaps where floor met walls inside. Called again and told representative that I was not all confident in weather tightness of unit.
They even refused to add insurance after delivery of the damaged unit. Finally called to have this piece of.
picked up. They offered no acceptable resolution, so customer service also sucked. I will not ever refer or recommend this company.
Original review: Nov. 14, 2018For the most part, our experience with this company was acceptable although I can verify many of the issues others have can be considered the norm. We rented a total of 5 containers for a move of approx. We then had the boxes stored for approx.
Two months at the local warehouse. Upon unloading one of them, it was discovered the entire front end was wet, destroying a two month old king mattress, several furniture items, family photos and legal papers. Another box also leaked due to a hole in the ceiling but the damage was relatively minor. These containers are constructed in such a way so they can be broken down for transportation. They then reassemble them as needed.
It was obvious that when this was done, the wall ceiling joints were never sealed properly allowing water to enter them. Likely while our boxes were transported in rain. My main complaint is that after waiting over 90 days they simply denied the claim stating the 'I have received a response regarding your claim from the Legal Department.
Per the photos provided, the statement given and the water test on the container, the claim is not covered by 1-800-PACK-RAT.' I guess we just loaded wet items in their box! The driver picking the empty observed the wet items, agreed the box had not been assembled properly and that he would set it aside for repair. Likely this was done prior to the 'Legal Department' performing the water test two or three months later.
All I can advise, is that these boxes leak! And don't expect any help from this company. I would never use them again! Original review: Nov. 5, 2018My first negative issue I had with them was when I called to access my container to add a few more things to it. I called 48 hours before and was told it would be outside and ready for me to get into. When I arrived at the warehouse, my container wasn’t outside and no one was at the warehouse.
I had to call their home office in NC. I was on hold for over 30 minutes and ended up standing in the 95 degrees heat for an hour waiting for someone to arrive to get the container for me. I had two containers and scheduled both for a long distance move. I needed them at different times. So someone put in the first as a local move and the second as a long distance move.
When I called to have both containers moved they had everything wrong. I had reserved the containers months in advance to lock in the pre summer price hike.
When I called to have them move my containers from New Orleans to New York they tried to charge me $3,000 more than the price they quoted me. I finally got that straightened out and then asked about my free month of storage, they refunded one month on only one unit. Then ran my credit card for the entire amount after I had already paid a $500 deposit for the move. I had to call them back and have them refund the $500. They refunded $713. They still owed me $214.
They were supposed to transport my two containers in July. I was told that it would take 10 days. I called in late October to have the containers delivered to my new house. I thought my containers were in New York. They weren’t, they were still in New Orleans. I paid them to move them over three months prior to calling. They told me it would be 10 days before they could deliver them. After several phone calls I got them to move the delivery up a few days.
The supervisor said I wouldn’t be charged for the month on November because the containers should have been here already. She said I wouldn’t be billed for one and claimed that she refunded the other. She also said she refunded the charge for the free month. I was billed for two months, no refunds. They owe me $642 now. Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow. I’ll be surprised if they actually deliver my containers.
I’m about to get an attorney. I have paid them around $8,000 and I’m pissed!!! Original review: Sept. 1, 2018When my pod was delivered on a Friday I could not open the door. I called the service department and left a message (your place will be saved in the queue and we'll call you back shortly), which was never returned.
I called several more times to get a busy signal (this started at 9:00 AM). When I was finally able to get through (after a substantial hold) at 3:00 PM, I was told that there was nothing that could be done until TUESDAY. It didn't matter that I had movers coming over the next day; nothing could be done until Tuesday per the facility manager (shout-out to the manager in Aurora, CO!!!). I asked to speak to a supervisor who was remarkably rude and unhelpful and who reiterated that nothing could be done until Tuesday and told me that, if she were me, no she would not be upset-she would understand that things cannot be helped. She then stated that this was likely my fault for improper packing. So this the response you'll get if anything goes wrong with your pod: 'It's your fault, not ours; we can't do anything about it for days; you should be understanding of this lag in response time, because after all it's your fault, not ours.'
Original review: Aug. 11, 2018Before hiring Pack Rat we asked if they had same day delivery and pick up and they said yes with an additional charge of $100. We are moving to a condo and the container cannot be left on the premises overnight. We are now trying to schedule the delivery but they say they cannot deliver/pick up the same day. They say they do have that service but it depends on the premises manager and he says he won't do it, and they cannot override the manager's decision. Now, we need to hire a moving company to go to their storage facility in Medley Florida (we are in Fort Lauderdale) and transfer our furniture to the truck so it can be delivered to us. We'll end up paying for 2 moves instead of one.
They also Bill you for the whole month of storage, doesn't matter whether it's 1 day or more. They do not prorate. It seems that you are at the mercy of the manager in charge of the facility.
Original review: Aug. 8, 2018Many years ago, my husband and I moved from a house to an apartment.
We stored the stuff we could not put in our apartment in PACKRAT containers. The experience was fine then. So when I found it necessary to move from California to Texas, I contacted 1-800-PACK-RAT to have both the containers we had stored and a new one for the apartment stuff delivered and then sent along to Texas. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! I cannot tell you how many hours of time we spent trying to get a container delivered properly - it actually never was delivered properly - we finally got it delivered, but had to put it in a parking lot as the driver was incompetent in addition to being 2 days late.
My packing service and I made about 25 calls during the process to 1-800-PACK-RAT. We were constantly given times and promises, but those NEVER were kept.
The container we needed was finally delivered AT NIGHT when it was supposed to be there at 9 am the day before. The driver was rude and unhelpful. The call in service was consistently unhelpful. They would tell us one thing and then when the appointment time came and went, we would call in and they would deny having made such arrangements.
The final PACKRAT mover showed up after dark and couldn't manage to park the container so we had to put it in a bank parking lot and carry stuff over to that location - horrible experience all round. They are disorganized and overpromise, but never take any responsibility. Then planning for delivery to the new location was a total nightmare. I set a date and time, arranged for movers to unload and a parking permit, but my delivery date was changed to 5 days later and I was given no notice at all. Within 24 hours I had rescheduled my movers and parking permit only to have the delivery date changed AGAIN to another two days later.
At this point the container will arrive a full week late due to 'transit delays' per the manager I was transferred to and there is 'nothing they can do'. Now I am in a position to reschedule my movers and parking permit for the second time and will be sitting in an empty apartment for a full week, assuming there are no additional 'transit delays'.
This is not how you want your first cross country move to go! Original review: July 16, 2018Packrat Container Terrible Issue Bottom-line: They lied to us over and over. Again and again about delivery, travel time, drop off and even the pick-ups of our Reserved Containers.
They gave us false information constantly even the Resolution Supervisor (Mr. Ryan.) stated that we would still get the same expedited service of 7-10 days but not be charged for it. (That was even a false statement - because it took 30 days.) What was originally ordered. Total time 9-10 Days - (original statement 9-17 June). Really turned out to be 30 Days - 12 June to 11 July. They promised – They cannot deliver as promised in each department (Sales, Customer Service and even the Resolution Department.) Their customer service department has an automated line to return a person’s call if you are on hold for over an hour – that didn’t work. They don’t call you back, no matter how many times you leave your phone number. The NC main office doesn’t know the local office (VA nor CO) ability or their options for delivery or their optional schedule.
The Drivers know better if they can or cannot – but the Main office tries to control their schedule with damaging results. The customer loses money, time, efforts, planning options, and not mention many phone calls to get some information. They wasted our time. Cost us time and effort.
Vexilar Fl 18 Pro Pack And Soft Case
We lost opportunity, money and our nerves using that company. Never again.28 May – We reserved 2 Packrat 24’ Containers to be delivered to the house 9 June-Expedited move to CO 7-10 Day max time (Took a month). 9 June –They called and said sorry – maybe the 13-15th now. We called the main office over 12 times for help, why the change and now problems. Over 12 times their customer service line stated they will call us back.
I called the Sterling VA Packrat location – asking for reasons – they stated lack of containers to fulfill orders. I called the Main Office - NC location – they finally put me in touch with the resolution office (even a supervisor Ryan.). He said he will try and help.11 June – Sterling office called me and said they can deliver one container to start, maybe the next a day or 2. Ryan stated he will still honor the expedited service 7-10 days but will reduce the bill down the $700 due to the mix – up on their end. 12 June – the driver brought the one container out, he said no issue on the next container the next day – I said, 'Yes please.
The same day the driver brought a new second empty container and picked up the full first one. 13 June – second container was picked up at 6 am to start the Journey to Colorado. We cleared the house and started the drive to Colorado.16 June - We arrived – in Colorado. I called and asked about the containers location. They had no idea of the location if left or not. 17 June – we called Packrat Main office line and gave the solid address for the containers to be delivered to. 20 June – called Packrat again and again.
They still had no idea of the location or schedule. For the next week – they lied again and again on the whereabouts or latest delivery schedule of the containers. 25 June – Ryan final sent a note – stated the containers will be delivered 27-30th of June. 27 June no show. We started calling late that day. No answer or reply from them.28 June Packrat office stated - someone told them not to deliver the containers – to instead wait for instructions – Totally False!!!
For the next week no answers nor replies why the change in delivery as told about and we even planned a unload crew for. Wife paid $ 200 for a 3 person crew to come and unload. They sat there 0800am-to - noon waiting for a no show. Packrat didn’t care and didn’t give any reason or solution for when they will deliver. (Again a false date given – with no reason.)5 July – someone called from the NC office. Said they can deliver now Friday the 6th of June. 6 July – yes they finally delivered both containers.
(A crew was hired and unloaded both in 2 hours.) Told Packrat they are empty. They stated they will pick up in a day or two. 5 days later on the 11th of July – they finally came to pick up the 2 containers (and they damaged our tree at the same time) it never ends. A Very Upset Customer that will not use them again! And they even offer a 10% Military Discount - which they didn't honor.
Is this the new Norm? Very Disappointed. Then after they had my container in storage, I noticed their rates had increased. (I noticed by looking at my credit card bill.). They made no attempt to notify me, which was in direct violation of their contract.
Then a couple of months later, they raised their rates yet again. Of course I had no alternative but to pay and keep paying them their jacked-up fees. When my container was finally returned to me to unload, they dashed out to pick it up the very next day. The moral is, DON'T TRUST A RAT! It may seem at first that 1-800-Pack-Rat is cheaper than their competition, but read the fine print.
After they have your credit card number, you're screwed!Original Review: I should have checked reviews BEFORE scheduling. In May, 2018, I scheduled a container to be delivered in about two weeks. The container arrived on time, and the driver was very professional and helpful.
He explained how to pack and other details. The last thing he said before he left was, 'Just call when you're ready to have it picked up, and be sure it's locked.' Five days later, I called to have it picked up. No one took my call so I left a message to be called back. No one called back. Later that day I called again to find out what was going on. It was at that point I was told my container could not be picked up for A WHOLE WEEK.
They claimed they ask customers to give them 7-10 days notice, but nowhere in any of the emails they sent was there any mention of needing advanced notice. Besides, the driver had personally told me to 'CALL WHEN I WAS READY TO HAVE IT PICKED UP.' There was no mention of my needing to call in advance. Had he said so, I would have immediately scheduled a pickup. I knew it wouldn't take more than a week to pack, so that would have worked out. When I asked to be connected to a supervisor, the person told me there was nothing that anyone could do. I had to get rather testy just to be transferred to someone claiming to be a supervisor.
Unfortunately, that just got me the runaround, 'I'm terribly sorry, but there is nothing we can do.' I don't know about you, but I really hate it when a company claims they CAN'T do something, when the truth is they WON'T do it. 1-800-PACK-RAT will have my container for several months while my new home is being built. You would think with so much money to be made from my continued business, they would be more cooperative. NO SUCH LUCK.
ONCE 1-800-PACK-RAT HAS YOUR MONEY, YOU'RE AT THEIR MERCY. Original review: April 26, 2018Working with the claims department to resolve my stolen property is like playing a game of chess.
Customer service and drivers are very kind and helpful. I made the required police report but PackRat will not provide me an itinerary of where my pod was each day that it was out of my possession. The police have asked me for this and the company is unhelpful in providing it. When I asked about the video monitoring they were upset and equally unhelpful.
As I write this review the issue is still not resolved. They take no responsibility whatever for my belongings while in their care. READ The Fine Print on the contract. I actually cannot find anything on there that they do take responsibility for. They emphasize all the positive things they claim they can do for you but zoom over the caveats. For instance, the 10,000 dollars of free insurance is only offered for the first 30 days. If it takes a week or more to get the pod loaded on a truck and traveling, which it often does, then a large piece of your 30 days is used.
My monetary loss is more than 10,000 dollars. Since they will not provide me the information about the pod itinerary, I cannot tell how long it sat before leaving, how long it took to arrive or how long it sat at the arrival warehouse. Another instance is the lack of information provided on the security measures utilized by the pod drivers. They claim that they provide a no cut lock. Mine was cut off.
They claim that the pods are kept indoors in a locked secure facility with 24/7 video monitoring, My pod was not secured that way. So the chess game continues. Original review: April 24, 2018When I called to schedule the drop off of the pod at a storage facility the day I wanted to schedule was full. They offered to drop off the next day A.M. Delivery but would not waive the $50.00 fee even though they could not accommodate me on the day I needed it. Talked to a supervisor with no success. Very bad business practice!
The least they could have done was waive the $50.00 for not being able to drop it when I wanted it dropped. I will be moving in less than a year again and will not be using PACK-RAT.
Failure to waive a lousy $50.00 fee has cost them a lot more. Original review: April 10, 2018This company’s customer service has been absolutely awful. I was hesitant about using them in the first place since I’ve always been a PODS customer however PODS didn’t service my location. I will never use Pack-Rat again. Their customer service representatives have no idea what they are talking about or even how to use those systems. I have called 3 times to set up my long distance move and they still don’t have my order correct. I was told that it would take 10 business days to get my unit delivered to my new apartment (moving from Indiana to Rhode Island).
Now I am being told that it takes 10 business days to get it to their closest location and then it can be delivered. When I moved from New Jersey to Indiana using PODS it took them a week and at $1000 less. My wife asked that he put our box in the driveway. He said he would after the two trucks he was pointing to coming down the street removed the two from the driveway.
My wife left to get another load. PackRat removed the two boxes from the driveway but left ours in the street. So I called and asked that they return and move it into the driveway. They wanted to CHARGE me for an additional reposition fee and same day fee.
I argued with them for 2 hours and Pack Rat would not waive the move fee. They actually said that I was responsible for ensuring that the driveway was clear and they could position the box. Only PackRat could have cleared the driveway. They simply didn't do it.
Go somewhere else. Original review: July 14, 2017I like that they were informative and patient. The delivery and pick up of the containers was on time. The driver and customer service were very courteous.
They were honest and extremely helpful throughout the whole process and answered all the question professionally. The help made the move a breeze. Even the driver was patient when problem arised since I forgot about the height of the tree, but the driver took time to figure it out.
It was positive from the beginning to end of the move. Original review: July 13, 20171-800-PACK-RAT has very good customer service and very helpful through the whole process even when you were done.
Their customer service is the best. The process was very easy and fast and they are there every single minute. I thought it was going to be hard and cost a lot of money but it was not. Very reasonable. I like the services and they make sure you are happy and do not need help with anything else.
I love how they treat you like family and are there to answer any questions or help with. 1-800-PACK-RAT is a portable storage and moving company capable of local and long distance moving.
