Zemprelli, Esq., age 92 of Jupiter, FL and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. Born May 11, 1925 in Clairton, he was the son of the late John Zemprelli and Maria (Mercurio) Pelegrini Tomaselli Zemprelli. Ed was a proud graduate of Penn State University – where he was a member of the debate team and worked the first-down chains at the football games – and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. After passing the bar in 1950, Ed hung his shingle in his home town and began the practice of law. From there, starting as solicitor for the City of Clairton, Ed began a political career seeing him elected for his home district to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1963 until his election to the Pennsylvania Senate for the 45th District. Ed retained that office 1969 to 1988, serving as Senate Majority Leader later in that term.

He also served as a trustee for Penn State from 1978 to 1996 and a trustee for the University of Pittsburgh. In his personal life, Ed was a member of St. Thomas a Becket Church in Jefferson Hills, a talented wood worker, a fan of the opera, a gardener, a chef, a golfer, and, most importantly, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Antoinetta) Zemprelli, who passed away July 15, 2014, and his siblings: Ange Bracken, Lena Capristo, and Michael Tomaselli.

Anna Tomaselli Obituary 1988 Model

Anthony wasn't one to sit still very long. When he wasn'toperating an insurance business, you'd find him on the ski slopes, swimmingdaily at his favorite retreat, or involved in any number of community endeavors.Mr. Anthony Friday at Hale Hospital after a long illness, leavingbehind a proud legacy as a Scouting advocate, church leader, and staunchfamily supporter. For 40 years, he owned and operated AnthonyInsurance Agency in Bradford until illness forced his retirement in 1991.He had inherited the business from his father and was later joined by twosons.

Together, they built the agency to one of prominence in the city, which Mr. Anthony grew to respect. 'As a boss, he never put himself beneathyou,' said Gloria Godbout, who worked for him 37 years. 'He was a big manwho stooped to your level. You had to respect him for that.

Nobody treatedhis employees any kinder than Dick Anthony. I certainly wouldn't have stayedthere that long had it not been for his compassion.' Another who stretchedthe gamut was Peggy A. Durst, who spent 44 years at the firm before retiring. She remembers her late employer as someone who'd pick up a broom one minuteand solve a dilemma the next. 'Our children became his children,' saidDurst.

'He treated his help like family, always fair and honest. This bosshad a lot of integrity.' The agency later collaborated with Anthony Brooksand eventually with Frederick E. Malcolm into what is now Anthony &Malcolm Insurance Agency in Bradford Square. Anthony remained a pillarof First Church of Christ, Bradford, where, together with wife Lois, advocatedfor a new steeple. They worked toward that cause, assisting at bean suppersand promoting other fund-raisers.

He had been a former senior deacon, trusteeand moderator. 'When I think of this church, his image is all over it,'said Sandra L.

Walker, senior deaconess. 'I remember him from youth group. You always saw Dick rolling up his sleeves and pitching in. Whatever itwas-funds or energy-he donated quietly and without fanfare. He preferredto be anonymous.' Sharing equal passion was his role as a Scoutmaster withTroop 11 at his church, to president of Lone Tree Council, and board memberof Yankee Clipper Council. He touched the lives of many boys-from Tenderfootto Eagle-as a teacher, advisor and longtime executive. He went on campouts, jamborees and frigid Klondike Derbies, camping and hiking the wildernesstrails, and enjoying the adventure of youth.

Along with sidekick NormanWoods, the two turned out more Eagle Scouts than any other troop around.' He never got old-at least in the way he felt,' said Daniel Pascoe, aformer Scoutmaster. 'When my two boys finished Scouting, I was gone. DickAnthony never left.

He was both a mentor and inspiration to many like myself.' Aside from his home in Bradford, Mr. Anthony spent his summers on CountryPond in Kingston, N.H., where he began every day with a two-mile swim, and wintered in North Conway, N.H., where he skied 120 days a year. Twoweeks before his death, he and his wife had vacationed in Canada. 'In hiscase, the colder the better,' said his nephew Edward F. Clough, a formerGazette editor. 'He knew the trails all over the world, from Mount Washingtonto the Swiss Alps.

I find it amazing that in all those years of skiing,he never suffered an injury. Even before there were chair lifts, he'd climbto the top under very slippery conditions.' Anthony was also a 59-yearmember of Saggahew Lodge, AF & AM, which conducted a memorial serviceMonday night at the funeral home before a line of mourners that had formedoutside the door. He was in Haverhill, son of the late Frederic A.and Grace (Morse) Anthony, and lived here nearly all his life. He graduatedfrom Haverhill High School in 1937 and from Tilton Junior College in 1939.He was a U.S.

Army veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant.Mr. Anthony was employed at the former Roberts Baking Company in Bradfordfor five years before launching his career in insurance. He was also amember of the Greater Haverhill Insurance Agents and served on the boardof Elmwood Cemetery. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Lois E. (Clough) Anthony;two sons and their wives, Kenneth J. And Irena Anthony, Bradford, and ThomasB. Anthony, Hamilton; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and AnneMarie Anthony, both of Bradford, and Ryan M.
