This is a platform to discuss everything Age of Empires 3. I am not a solo player, but I have played them a lot between 2007 and 2009 in team games (2v2, 3v3).There were two major strategies back then:1) An eco-heavy approach with shipments like 4 villagers and early market upgrades while building a mix of axe and bow riders (one or two stables) depending on what you need. Other shipments are hunt upgrades and cav upgrades.2) A club men rush for which you build a warhut before hitting age 2. Age 2 shipments include 7 club men, 4 axe rider, 2 dog rider, cetans, etc. The idea is to build club men while shipping cav units. It is really fast and you want to kick the opponent forward with the first units+shipment and pressure from that point (scout well!).

You need team mates that can keep up with the speed. Aztec, Russia, Iro were all good partners that have good ranged infantry and cavalry shipments.Economy can be tough to get going. The idea is to stay on hunt as long as possible because you run 1-2 hunt upgrade cards. Ship 15 bisons age 2 for more hunt, age up to age 3/4 with hunt politician etc. Staying age 2 for too long in team games can cripple you in the long term.

I always tried to aim for age 3 before 13-14 min, then ship 1000w and build 2 tcs with a few vills on the fire pit. I love the Sioux because they're one of the least used civilizations in the game and they seem to give players unfamiliar with their strengths and weaknesses a surprise. The key basic formula to winning with Sioux for me is:1) In age 1, use the War-chief to recruit treasure guardians and collect needed resources.2) In age 2, use the fire pit to produce as many villagers as needed to get the economy rolling3) Spend as little time as possible in age 34) Spam dog soldiers like mad in age 4. American ifly 737 fs2004 1. Make sure to get the anti-artillery upgrades.5) Attack and use the fire-pit to boost attack or siegeObviously this is not a bulletproof strategy and can be easily disrupted by an opponent who knows what they're doing. However, I seem to get away with this same exact formula more often than not.

Today we are talking to Dan Taylor, a professional level designer who has in the past worked for Eidos, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Rockstar (among others) on games such as Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Hitman: Sniper, or Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Dan - who started out as a modder for Morrowind, Skyrim, and Fallout New Vegas - has close to two decades of experience in the video game industry under his belt and his talk on Ten Principles for Good Level Design at the Game Developer's Conference 2013 is cu.
